Having been told to base our FMP on something which we find intrinsically interesting which we are thinking about everyday and can easily talk about, what is that for me?
Thinking on this there are a few things which are always a recurring theme for me, which I have strong opinions on and love to discuss; human sexuality, and the state of society. These are two things which I can talk and talk about forever on.
Human sexuality is something that really intrigues me, I am always watching documentaries with that sort of theme on Youtube, whether it is i-d’s videos or the Vice videos where they explore modern fetishes or their documentaries about the sex industry in different countries. There is something I love and am not afraid about to create art that is slightly kinky, sexual or sensual. Considering people such as Bowie and the sexuality he brought to his own image and the freedom of expression to the music industry, one of my favourite album covers is Roxy Music’s ‘For your pleasure’ where there is a woman dressed in tight leather or latex. It’s not that I am into Fetish I am drawn to this since it exposes the real modern human, the real uncut human is something which is important in my opinion. Society has always been one for keeping up appearances and most poignantly today, I love the real and gritty, a bit of clutter and a bit of a story.

such as this one, especially at 11:10, I love the shot of a barren truck stop.
Here is a link to vice, I really love their videos as they show the things about humans which we don’t talk about and show us who we really are and show us the parts of life and the world which are taboo or simply interesting facts which I did not know before.

here is one for i-d, I love their videos as they are about my generation and current things such as sexuality and just generally interesting things about society today and the positives which are becoming more prevalent.
The state of society and the environment, essentially the state of ethics today in our consumer society is something which I can bang on about. I like honesty in who you are and what your morals are, I like to think of what the world will come to if we keep going down the path we are venturing down. I have explored the environmental side of this point in my sustainable futures project and posted on my thoughts before, however this is something which I am definitely considering for FMP, the idea of creating a dystopian world.
Essentially I love discussing and considering issues in society, but not by thinking about how to make them positive and considering them in a positive manner. I like to portray and discuss the actuality of the situation and demonstrate the raw issues in a shocking manner.
What I need to do now is talk to my tutor and consider this, what I am struggling with is honing in on an idea and then stemming from there. To me this all blends into one big argument, however I don’t want to be too broad and confuse myself.

Agnieszka Polska – film director, The Demon’s Brain Hamburger Bahnhof.
UPDATE – A thought I just had is thinking about our primal and darker natures and how that contrasts to preened and primped society of today. (a concept I find very interesting)
